Please DO NOT leave any Styrofoam outside of these times\, as it is not collected\, nor stored\, and presents a litter hazard to neighboring roads and residents. \n\n\n\nACCEPTABLE:  \n\n\n\n\nStyrofoam peanuts (in sealed bag)\, \n\n\n\nAny white or colored Styrofoam (NOT black)\, \n\n\n\nCLEAN Styrofoam food containers\, trays\, dishes\, cups and egg cartons. \n\n\n\n\nNOT ACCEPTABLE: \n\n\n\n\nBlack Styrofoam\,\n\n\n\nEPS (expanded polyethylene) foam that squashes\n\n\n\nFood containers with VISIBLE food contamination\,\n\n\n\nCorn starch foam (if it dissolves in water it is not Styrofoam) – please dissolve or compost this\n\n\n\nEPE (Expanded Polyethylene) foam which is ‘squishable’)\,\n\n\n\nFilm-like foam. \n\n\n\n\nDue to limited volunteer availability\, you may be asked to provide proof of Oakwood address\, and residents with large quantities may be invited to go direct to the county location. County receivers will be checking for food contamination and correct product\, and may refuse to receive; consequently Green Oakwood volunteers may do so too. Eco Development in Mason processes the Styrofoam for recycling into items such as insulation and buoyancy aids and is available 24/7 if you miss this event.  \n\n\n\nThank you for helping to reduce landfill and City of Oakwood waste disposal costs.

SUMMARY:Styrofoam Recycling
DESCRIPTION:NOTE: Green Oakwood Volunteer Shuttles \n\n\n\nThe next Montgomery County Styrofoam recycling event will be held on Saturday January 3rd\, at Activity Park\, 221 N. Main St\, Centerville. For a limited time (between 9.30 to 11.30 only) Green Oakwood volunteers will offer a shuttle service for Oakwood residents\, from Foell Public Works Center\, to the drop location for you. Those with large amounts will be directed to take the Styrofoam to the county event. You are also reminded: \n\n\n\n\nPlease ensure there is no food waste on your Styrofoam.\n\n\n\nStyrofoam peanuts are acceptable in a plastic bag\, but Cornstarch peanuts (which dissolve in water) are not.\n\n\n\nNo black Styrofoam\, nor spongy foam\, nor film (these can go in your Hefty ReNew bag)\n\n\n\nPlease do not leave Styrofoam at Public Works outside of the times that Green Oakwood has published we are collecting\, and when there are no collectors present. In this instance the Styrofoam is not recycled as it cannot be stored\, and is a nuisance to City employees and your neighbors as it blows around the neighboring properties.\n\n\n\n\nGreen Oakwood cannot run this complimentary service without volunteers. If you have a vehicle and approximately 90 minutes to spare on Saturday 3rd January (to load up and do the run to Centerville) we would really appreciate your assistance. Please reach out on our contact page. Thank you for helping to reduce both city costs\, and the environmental impact of Styrofoam going to landfill.
