Curbside Pickup
The city of Oakwood collects certain recyclable items through its weekly curbside pickup. To utilize this service, residents can place the appropriate recyclable items loosely co-mingled in a container, marked appropriately with the “Recyclables” sticker which can be picked up at City Hall, in the lobby of the J. David Foell Public Works Center or the Oakwood Community Center. Then simply place this container on the curbside along with your trash on your trash pickup day.

Hefty ReNew
The Hefty ReNew™ Program started in April 2024 and provides an option for hard-to-recycle plastics that were previously unaccepted in the recycling stream. The Hefty ReNew™ Program allows residents to purchase specific orange bags from local retailers and place acceptable materials in these bags. Once the orange bag is full, simply place it in your current co-mingled container at your home or in the co-mingled recycle container at the Recycling and Yard Waste Drop-Off Facility, at the J. David Foell Public Works Center entrance. For additional information about the program, visit Hefty’s website at www.hefty.com/products/hefty-renew.

Public Works
The recycling facility accommodates the 24/7/365 drop-off of green waste (yard debris), cardboard, and co-mingled recyclables such as glass, plastics and metal cans. The facility supplements Oakwood’s weekly recycling collection program conducted in conjunction with trash collection.

Landfill
Okay, we understand this is not recycling, but it is very important that we minimize contamination in the collected recycling material in order to keep our recycling services running efficiently.
You have several options to dispose of items which unfortunately cannot be recycled:
- Weekly curbside trash pickup
- Dumpsters for efficient disposal of remodeling debris from “do-it-yourself” projects, or other household or yard items.
- Opportunities for residents to dispose of large household items and other debris through the monthly drop-off at the J. David Foell Public Works Center, 210 Shafor Boulevard. This is open from 8 a.m. until 12 noon on the first Saturday of each month.
